William Dalrymple (historian)

Misdated photograph

The broadside schematic of the Baltic is labeled as being from 1903. This is unlikely as the drawing shows the ship configured with a large number of lifeboats which were added in the wake of the Titanic disaster (1912). It is therefor likely that the drawing was made not earlier than 1912. Ad Orientem (talk) 05:22, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 8 April 2025

RMS Baltic (1903)RMS Baltic – Although this naming convention has become the norm for articles about ships from the White Star Line, no other article exists about a ship called the RMS Baltic, so this disambiguation is not neccessary. Probably could just have moved this without controversy. Randy Kryn (talk) 05:39, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose The White Star line were able to prefix their ships RMS from 1877. Therefore the 1871 SS Baltic would also be a RMS from then Lyndaship (talk) 08:09, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support perhaps add a hatnote to the 1871 ship.

  • Support – Support move to RMS Baltic with hatnote

Please see WP:NCS specifically If a ship has had more than one prefix during its lifetime, choose the best-known for the article and create a redirect from the other prefixed names ie a redirect from RMS Baltic (1871) to SS Baltic (1871), The date of launching should be used if there are several ships with the same name so RMS Baltic (1903) should keep its dab and from WP:SHIPMOS If there has been more than one ship with the same name, create a ship index page for the generic ship name this ship index page would be titled RMS Baltic Lyndaship (talk) 06:49, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
