Dangling participle

No politics here, just bad phrasing.

Yoon Suk Yeol (Korean: 윤석열; born 18 December 1960) is a South Korean politician and attorney who has been the 13th president of South Korea since May 2022.

There have been 13 presidents of South Korea since May 2022???! Does anyone agree with me that this is poorly-worded? The page is locked -- rightfully so, but that means I can't fix it. -- 2601:601:8401:9210:2554:9616:1EDA:F9D6 (talk) 16:01, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The pre-existing wording wasn't wrong per se, but certainly ambiguous--hopefully this is better. Writ Keeper 16:08, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's a lot harder to misread that. -- 2601:601:8401:9210:2554:9616:1EDA:F9D6 (talk) 16:36, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
...And then someone reverted it... -- 2601:601:8401:9210:2554:9616:1EDA:F9D6 (talk) 18:25, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
*sigh* Writ Keeper 18:31, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Grammar and formatting has certain rules but at the end of the day, the more techinical gramatical edits are preference. While some might feel that a small edit is necessary, others may not feel the same. At the end of the day, the purpose of making changes to an article (grammatically) is so that "Wikipedia editors follow grammar rules to write clear, concise, and easy-to-understand articles."
While I agree that the suggested change would make it easier to read, it is not the end of the world if someone disagrees. Jurisdicta (talk) 21:31, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Should Yoon declaring emergency Martial law be his voice file in the infobox?

Yoon declaring martial law is the biggest moment in Yoon's presidency, which is why I believe Yoon declaring it should be added to the infobox due to its significance. PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 17:19, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

sounds good to me 178.223.172.66 (talk) 21:48, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Voice recording

Why is it him speaking in English? Wouldn't his speaking in Korean be more representative? seefooddiet (talk) 05:53, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, Yoon loves English.
  • [1]: "He said “National Memorial Park” in English “sounds cool” but its Korean equivalent “Gukrip Chumo Gongwon” does not."
  • [2]: "영어로 내셔널 메모리얼 파크라고 하면 멋있는데 국립추모공원이라고 하면 멋이 없어서 우리나라 이름으로는 무엇으로 해야 할지 모르겠다"

If Yoon is impeached, can he still run president again?

If Yoon was impeached by the Constitutional Court of Korea,it is still up to the court if Yoon will be eligible to run for public office again. Realjohnpaul (talk) 02:19, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Status

@Realjohnpaul, could you please provide a reliable source for this? I'm not familiar with Korean polity, so I'd appreciate your help in updating it accurately. NXcrypto Message 10:56, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The sources are given in the article body. Yoon is actually suspended. seefooddiet (talk) 19:26, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for information. NXcrypto Message 19:27, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If it is already cited, then feel free to add it back. NXcrypto Message 19:29, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Residence

Is his residence still the presidential palace, after his termination? 675930s (talk) 06:39, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think the parameter could probably be removed altogether. It can maybe returned to the infobox after he dies; dead politicians sometimes have notable residences that can go in their infobox seefooddiet (talk) 06:47, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Related: created this article Acro Vista, but lazy to write mention of it in this article. Welcome others to do so. seefooddiet (talk) 20:44, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Trial of Yoon Suk Yeol

Should we create a standalone article about the trial of Yoon Suk Yeol? NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 06:20, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
