Mikiko Takada (高田幹子/たかだみきこ, Takada Mikiko, born 1955) later, Mikiko Ue (宇卫幹子) is a former Japanese badminton player.

Career

Takada won the Japanese National Badminton Championships back to back in 1977 and 1978 with her partner, Atsuko Tokuda. This result promoted her into the Japanese national team and it provided instant success when both Takada and Tokuda won the All England Open Badminton Championships women's doubles title in 1978.[1] The pair managed to get back to the final in 1979 but lost to the Indonesian pair of Imelda Wiguna and Verawaty Wiharjo.[2] Takada also won the Denmark Open in 1979.[3] In the Badminton World Cup, Takada snatched two bronze medals from two early competition, one with Tokuda and another one with Saori Kondo.[4][5]

Takada won 2 Uber cups with the Japan team in 1978 and 1981.[6][7]. Takada paired with both Tokuda and Kondo and only lost one match in the 1981 challenge rounds (which is the finals repeat against Indonesia) between two competitions.[8] Takada and Tokuda were the first ever women's doubles world number one in the first IBF world ranking release in 1978.[9]
