David Cutting, better known by their stage name Dust or Dust Cwaine, is a non-binary Drag performer, musician, and event producer working in Vancouver, BC, Canada.[1] They were introduced to performance through musical theatre at elementary school in Cranbrook, BC, where they grew up.[2] In 2016 they debuted as a drag performer.[3] Dust established themselves in Vancouver as the host and producer of Commercial Drag in 2017.[4] Commercial Drag eventually became a weekly show, hosted performers from RuPaul's Drag Race, and put on drag musicals.[5][6]Today they produce events through Sleepy Queer Productions.[7] Over time they became more fulfilled by live singing during drag performance.[8] Dust's debut album Arcana was released in September 2022.[1] Their name is inspired by experiences they had at Burning Man when they were 22 years old.[1] They were nominated as a Local Hero by the Georgia Straight in 2024.[9]

They described the sound of Arcana as "90’s Alt Rock, recognizable guitar, accessible vocals... it’s a Queer Counting Crows vibe".[10] During production Arcana's sound was inspired by "Matchbox 20 and Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind and Train...".[1] Arcana was produced by Josh Eastman at Helm Studios.[11]
