Possible sock again
Looks like we have another Andrew sock on our hands, opening an RM on Tornado outbreak of March 13–16, 2025 under same claims other LTAs have done. Also how they opened this 2 minutes after creation which is definitely suspicious. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 15:58, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- Aaaand it was blocked as a confirmed sock. Requesting you NAC/BMB the discussion since I can’t. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 16:09, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- Two things. One: I don't think your sanctions override BMB removing a sock-opened discussion, but you should discuss that with ArbCom; second, to my knowledge, requesting a specific closer is usually not allowed, but I can't find the specific policy point there, and it's on procedural grounds anyway, so IAR? You'd probably be best pinging an admin requesting for the topic to be outright removed at the SPI. If the topic gets re-opened by an A5 sock I'm going to close it on sight. Departure– (talk) 16:24, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah true I should probably bring that up with them. I wasn’t really requesting you specifically but I guess it could’ve just been because you’re very acquainted with spotting A5 socks so you’re like a go to person to identify them. That’s all. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 17:30, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- I think there's a MEAT or even SOCKALIKE situation on A5's case. Not that it makes a difference. Departure– (talk) 19:03, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- @MarioProtIV: Do you have any interest in going to ArbCom and getting their position on BMB-closing these sockpuppet discussions? I expect sock activity to increase during the summertime and a good few WPWX regulars are either on WikiBreak or editing more infrequently due to peak tornado season being over but peak hurricane season not yet starting. Propoal in four parts at ANI
Hi, I see that we share some common ground on this as you have expressed in your comments there (particularly the second post). Another thing I see happening are some faulty recollections as to what has transpired either therein or matters that are the subject of the discussion. They might be in good faith or not. The comment of yours to which I responed here would be an example. I intend to use this example to evidence such faulty recollections because it is one I can readily identify. When I do point to this example it will not be to assert an impropriety on your part since I think you just made a good faith error in trying to keep abreast of all that has been said. I am addressing this to you first as I don't wish you to see this as an allegation. Cinderella157 (talk) 03:21, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
- Understood. It's been a long (and, honestly, downright confusing) few days, and though I've been trying to keep Dicklyon from facing sanctions based on what I've seen so far, I've more or less stepped back from the thread for now (as it literally takes up half of AN/I at present) and I don't see how staying there's going to be worth my time. Question
Do you think the statement on my userpage was too extreme? I do hold true to those beliefs, but I'm aware I'm extremely outspoken sometimes (surprised I haven't been dragged to ANI yet!). I'll be back home from Yosemite tomorrow; I wouldn't mind starting a WTW discussion over the year issue then. Also, I've uploaded some photos I took to commons, feel free to check them out. :) EF5 23:21, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Well, I've seen folks brought to ANI for WP:POLEMIC for less, and the bit about at least perceiving editors different based on political affiliation struck me as a bit extreme.
- As for the year issue, I'd just like this whole thing to be ironed out. NCWWW got us far enough to open albeit petty conflict. Departure– (talk) 23:25, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess that's fair. Didn't know naming could be this controversial; if you told 2024 me that we'd be in a project-wide argument over the casing of a single letter I'd call you insane. EF5 23:34, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Also, FYI, a draft exists for yesterday's derecho and violent tornadoes, feel free to help out. EF5 22:57, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
