Victor Lye Thiam Fatt[1] BBM (Chinese: 赖添发; pinyin: Lài Tiānfā; born 1962) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), Lye was elected as a Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC in 2025.
Early life and education
Lye was born in 1962 to a Hakka family with 4 siblings. Lye's family was renting in Ang Mo Kio until they were allotted a public housing unit.[2]
A Colombo Plan Scholar, Lye achieved a first class honors in Economics at the University of Adelaide.[3]
Career
Lye was previously head of Singapore sales at Crosby Securities Group.[4] In 1996, he left Crosby Securities Group.[4]
Political career
Appointed in 2012 as PAP Branch Chairman of the Bedok Reservoir-Punggol division within Aljunied GRC, Lye first contested in 2015 with a team of candidates from PAP, but lost the contest narrowly to Workers' Party (WP) and forced a recount.[5]
In 2020, Lye contested Aljunied GRC again but lost to WP again.[6] He was co-opted into PAP's Central Executive Committee in the same year.[7]
In February 2025, Lye stepped down from as PAP branch chairman at Bedok Reservoir–Punggol division in Aljunied GRC.[8] During the 2025 Singaporean election, Lye was announced to contest in Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong's Ang Mo Kio GRC.[8] The PAP team won the three way contest with Singapore United Party and People's Power Party and Lye became a Member of Parliament on 3rd May 2025.[9]
Personal life
Lye is a Roman Catholic. He is married with two children.[3]
