Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia

The London budget gives the Mayor of London legal authority for revenue and expenditure plans. For the financial year 2024/25 the budget was approximately £20,400,000,000.[1][2]

Purpose

The Mayor of London is ultimately accountable to the members of the London Assembly and to the Greater London public for its use of public money and how its spending is allocated. The Mayor of London allocates funding for areas which include policing, the economy, climate change and transport, amongst others, from the London budget.[3] The London budget is primarily funded via a council tax precept, block grants by the Government of the United Kingdom, fares from Transport for London.[4][5]
