The Kulliyyah of Medicine is a publicly funded medical institution located in Kuantan, Pahang.[1]at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
The faculty aims to provide doctors with medical training with integration and adjustment to Islamic principles.[2]
The undergraduate medical program is based at the Kuantan campus. During the clinical phase of the program, students receive teaching at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA), Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, and Hospital Pekan. All these hospitals are located in Pahang. In 1997, IIUM formalized an agreement with the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) through a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement enables these hospitals to be used for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
The Kulliyyah of Medicine has expanded its offerings to include postgraduate programs. They offer master's and PhD programs in basic medical sciences and clinical postgraduate programs, which are overseen by the conjoint boards of each area of study.
The university is a part of the development plan for the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Pahang and southern Terengganu.[citation needed] The university uses Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) as its main teaching hospital. HTAA is a service hospital that provides basic teaching facilities and is used by various other public and private health institutions.[3]
